Nice RS

Is there more of a classic shape than the Porsche 911? Its gone for god knows how many years without being really changed and yet, it still looks as good as it did all those years ago. Does that mean such a classic car can't be improved? No, as this 964 RS proves, with a few subtle touches even the most classic of designs can be improved.

In this case, those touches are as simple as a slight stance tweak and changing the wheels for those timeless Fuch Spilts, the black of the wheels contrasts perfectly with the silver paint and somehow just makes near-perfection... well as close to perfection as you can get, afterall, everything can be improved, in this case, I'm just not quite sure how.

Porc

As I am sure you all know, modified Volkswagen's have been stealing parts from their Stuttgart cousins at Porsche forever, sets of wheels, door handles, the odd badge or even in some cases whole engine blocks (especially within Air-Cooled circles). However, it is pretty rare to see something not wearing the VW badge to be seen sporting Porsche parts, but thats exactly what EUMania member 'couzens' has done to his stunning Mk2 Ph1 Renault Clio.

Sitting pretty on a set of colour-coded Porsche Cookie Cutters the little french hatch really stands out from the other Clio's beginning to hit the Euro scene, not because of anything radical, but through clever thinking and a great eye for good, quality parts. The Porsche connection doesn't just stop at the wheels, inside couzens has fitted a set of classy 944 seats which are set off with the classic chequered boot flooring.

I can see Porsche parts becoming more and more popular within the Euro scene, the D90 wheel is already seen as a classic, so how long before we see a Saxo on Teledials? Or a Nova on Fuchs? Who knows, but if they look as good as this Clio, we've got a lot to look forward to.

Comic-Book Hero

I've been away for a while so it must be time for something new. As this is the first post of the year (nearly 5 months in, I must be slacking) it needed to be something a bit special, and this certainly is. What we have here is Mk4 Polo 1.4L 8v... okay, its not sounding that special yet, I'll give you that. But check it out closer, I think this car could possibly pack more unique features than just about any other car on the scene, from the custom paintjob, through to the crazy interior and comic book rear light covers this car packs punch after punch. And seriously? When did you last see a set of ATS Cups look that good?

This Polo isn't just one of the best Polo's on the scene, I'd wager at it being one of the best VW's fullstop! For more information head over to CrazyDubs.Co.Uk and hit up it's current owner Leeroy or for its builder you might wanna have a chat with Will Riseley.

Racer86's Starlet Pt.2

Its funny, I really didn't think this car could get any better... I was wrong. The new mesh split-rims look spot on, especially in the tone he has chosen to paint them in and I personally can't wait to see more pictures of this serious little car.

Bangernomics

A couple of years ago you would have been able to pick up a Volvo 340 or 360 for literally pennies, they were one of the most undesirable cars around, thats not to say they're not any good, like any Volvo, they're bomb-proof, it was just nobody wanted them. However with the rise of the Drift scene in the UK and budget championships such as Tramp Drift, the little Volvo has begun to rise in popularity once more. Reasonably light and tail happy the 340 and 360 have become the ideal starting point for any budding drifter and with a nice set of wheels and a decent drop to set them off they can look really smart too. I for one am happy to see another 1980's hatchback being saved, and although some people don't agree with their rising prices I personally know I'd much rather see that than a pile of them on the Scrapheap. Long live the Scandinavian Flick.

Missed Potential

A year or two ago my Step-Dad had an Accord Wagon in a very similar shade to the one above. I have to admit, I didn't follow my own rule of everything has potential and completely ignored it. How wrong I was, knowing how much he paid for it I should have forced a few notes into his hand and set about getting the thing on the deck. Another one for the future then it seems.

Badge Engineering

The VW Lupo has always been a popular option within the Volkswagen scene, especially as a cheap(er), reliable but funky daily driver or as a step up to the bigger Golf's etc. However it has long been my opinion that the Lupo's Spanish cousin the Seat Arosa is the prettier of the two cars. Although the Lupo is by no means ugly (in fact I would say its the best design since the Mk1 Golf), the front end on both the Mk1 and 2 Arosa to me is far more appealling than the bug-eyed VW and it has always been a mystery to me as to why they're aren't more popular.

However it seems that they're are a few out there that have cottoned onto this as more and more Arosa's are popping out of the woodwork and this is one of my personal favourites. With the rarer Mk1 front end making it already stand out it is a real lesson in how you don't have to spend mega-bucks to create and eye-catchiing ride with simple timeless mods and a couple of funky touches the owner has a really cool car, for not too many pennies, what more could you want?

Swedish Insanity

What does a 700bhp, 4WD 1969 Saab 99 look like? Well like this actually. What makes it so cool? The fact that based on its appearance it could quite easily be running 70bhp with just enough torque to peel the skin off of a rice pudding. It runs a 'slightly' fettled Saab block and its 4WD system has been ripped out of some sort of Audi Quattro. Do cars really come anymore nutty than this?

Look East

I told you they were rolling in some crazy shit over on 'tha Eastside' of Europe and heres more proof. These pictures were all taken at a Polish (I think) show last summer and as you can see, some of the cars are simply world class. Obviously there are still some real monsters, but isn't that the same everywhere?

5-Door Corsa

When Sean sent me some pictures of his car with the words 'Modified 5-Door Corsa' I have to admit, my heart sunk. Lets face it, the mo' door Corsa was never going to win any beauty pagents and the majority of modified examples I've seen are usually terrible. So you can imagine my suprise when these pictures popped up. I really like it, the stance is spot on, the wheels look great and the colour really suits it. So well done Sean, for making a Swan out of a real ugly Duckling.
